Traunfall – Nice location for a photostop

This August I decided to visit the “Traunfall“. A 200 meters long and 12 meters tall waterfall of the river Traun in Upper Austria. The waterfall runs diagonally from the left to the right bank of the river. This causes the length of 200 meters. There are also some old wooden weir systems. At the time I visited the “Traunfall” the river had less water than usual because we had a dry period of some weeks with over 30° Celsius most of the time.

For this trip, I used my Nikon D750 with the Tamron SP 24-70 F2.8, a Hoya Pro ND 64 Filter (82mm) and my Manfrotto Tripod with Sirui K30X ballhead.

Now to the Pictures!

From the parking lot, you take a short walk down to the waterfall. There are several benches to rest, but the view to the waterfall is very limited. At the end of the path, you find a small place. From this place, a bridge leads to the other side of the river to a little chapel (which I sadly forgot to photograph 🙁 ).

On the place, before the bridge, I positioned my tripod and took several shots of the waterfall.

After half an hour of taking photographs, I decided to walk back to the car. But on the way up I discovered another small path I had overlooked on the way down. I followed the path and reached another viewpoint with a nice view of the waterfall and the weir system. So I have taken some more photos.

Conclusion

The “Traunfall” is a nice place to visit with beautiful views on the waterfall. I spent a little more than one hour there before I went back home. From the parking lot, there is only one way down which also leads to a second viewpoint only one minute away. Moreover, a bridge leads to a little chapel. So you don’t have to walk very long. I enjoyed my visit.
