Phototour to Hallstatt

Some days ago a friend and I went on a photo tour to Hallstatt in the Salzkammergut in Upper Austria. Hallstatt is a World Heritage Site for Cultural Heritage and known for its beauty, the magnificent alpine landscape, the marvelous Hallstatt lake and the old salt mine which you can visit. Also some of the earliest archaeological evidence for the Celts was found in Hallstatt.
Hallstatt is so famous that China decided to build a copy of the village. Nevertheless, even at the end of October there are still plenty of tourists. The town itself is very small and you can walk through in about ten minutes. But with all the highlights around you could spend several days there.
For this photo tour I have used my Nikon D750, Tamron SP 15-30 F2.8, Tamron SP 24-70 F2.8, Tamron SP 150-600 F5-6.3 VC USD and a Samsung NX500 for filming (the video of this tour won’t be released in the near future as I am struggling with the editing software).
Now to the pictures
After arrival we walked straight to the Hallstatt lake.
Next we decided to visit the “World Heritage View” above the village. To reach the viewpoint we had to buy tickets for the cable car for 13 euros. A couple of minutes later headed to the top station.
There beautiful landscapes awaited us. Sadly at this time of the year most of the valley was covered in shadows wherefore taking good photographs was a really challenging task. But I hope you enjoy the following pictures nevertheless.
After we arrived back down in the valley we went on a walk to Hallstatt itself. This little village was also really worth seeing.
Conclusion
Hallstatt is a really lovely place to visit. The village is gorgeous, the landscape is very beautiful and there are plenty of highlights to visit, e.g. the old salt mine, the world heritage viewpoint and many others. Also Hallstatt is the starting point for many hiking paths and boat trips on the lake. Sadly, at the end of October the sun is so low that almost the whole valley is covered in shadows most time of the day, so the best time to visit is in the spring and summer. However, you have to be aware that at this time there will be loads of tourists. Altogether we enjoyed our stay and the landscape and I am really pleased with my pictures despite the light conditions.
