Today I want to show you the pictures I took a while back when my girlfriend and I visited the Feuerkogel in Upper Austria. The Feuerkogel is a mountain located west from the market town Ebensee. Its height is 1592 meters and it is part of the Höllengebirge which is situated between the Attersee and the Traunsee. You can reach the top with a ropeway from Ebensee.
For this trip I used a Sony Alpha 7 with the Sony Zeiss FE 35 F2.8 prime lens packed up in my Lowepro 400 AW backpack.
Now to the pictures
We arrived in Ebensee around 11 o’clock. As it was Wednesday we had not much traffic and the parking lot was half empty. We bought our tickets for the ropeway and were lucky to catch it just in time for departure; otherwise we would have had to wait for half an hour for the next turn. It was a cloudy but also sunny day with strange lighting, however, when we arrived at the mountain top, a stunning view awaited us.

We decided to take the hiking path to the “Europakreuz”. This is a cross which was installed for honoring the chairmanship of Austria in the European Union. The hike led us through beautiful landscapes and viewpoints and we managed to come across a herd of cows 🙂 After arriving at the “Europakreuz”, we rested a bit and headed then back to the ropeway station. Luckily we were again just in time for departure :-).
Conclusion
The Feuerkogel is another nature jewel in Upper Austria which is really worth a visit – not only in summer for hiking or paragliding but also in winter for skiing. We enjoyed our little hike up the mountain with the gorgeous view and landscape and will visit it again in the future as several more hiking paths are waiting to be explored!
