Yesterday a friend and I made a photo trip to the Almtal. It was a cloudy, cold and rainy day, however, we wanted to capture some autumn colors and I am very pleased with the results 🙂
For this trip I used my Nikon D750 with the Tamron SP 15-30 F2.8, Tamron SP 24-70 F2.8 with a Hoya Pro ND 64 Filter (82mm), the Tamron SP 150-600 F5-6.3 and my Manfrotto Tripod with Sirui K30X ball head. All of my gear was packed safely in my Lowepro Flipside 400 AW backpack with raining hood. The weather sealing of all three Tamron lenses was very useful on this trip.
Now to the Pictures!
After one hour driving, we arrived at the parking lot of the Restaurant directly at the Almlake. We mounted up our cameras and started with the photoshoot of the stunning landscape.
The hiking path, which started at the parking lot, led us through a wood with several bridges and little creeks. After about 15 minutes we arrived at the shore of the lake. There were three little beaches where we spent the most of the time of the shooting.
After using the 15-30 and 24-70 I decided to switch to the Tamron 150-600 for some detail shots of the scenery and the mountains. I was once more very surprised of what this giant lens is capable of. Using it on a tripod is very enjoyable and the results were really great!
Two hours later the weather got worse so we decided to go back to the parking lot. On our way, I took several detail shots in the wood trying to catch some more autumn colors.
Conclusion
The Almtal is a very beautiful place to visit. We only visited a little spot on the southern end of the Almlake but there are many more interesting spots to visit like the hiking paths along the Almriver or the Cumberland Wildlife park. We enjoyed our photo shoot there. I have to say that the bad weather led to some very interesting shots but I am looking forward to another visit when the sun shines.
On this occasion my friend Drasko Stojadinovic made a video hands-on of my Tamron SP 24-70 F2.8 on his Sony A7 Mark II. It is very interesting to see, how this lens performs on the Sony mirrorless camera with a cheap Chinese adapter. You find the hands-on with the video on his blog Drasko Stojadinovic | Photography. Take a look!
